*TOPIC: WALKING IN LOVE 2*

*"He that loveth his brother abideth in the light and there is none occasion of stumbling in Him"*
          (1 John 2:10)

1John 4:8 says,  *"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love"*. This underscores the importance of walking in love as Christians. 1 John 3:16-17 also says,  *"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world’s good and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?"*, it means that your revelation of Christ’s sacrificial love should not only culminate in thanksgiving but in our love for others as well.
We must therefore be determined too show love always. Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV says, *“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”* As a child of God, you were born with God’s nature of love. However, the fact that you were born with this nature of love doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll walk in love; though you have love in you as a Christian, you first have to know you do, and then learn to walk in it.
Every day, our love-nature is tested by difficult people or circumstances that try to make us act contrary to our real nature. But we ought to be bold and determined to walk in love, and we’ll gain the victory. The Bible says, *“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love”* (1 John 4:18). Since the believer is a product of love, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us, love isn’t what we should be asking for, it is already part of our recreated human spirit. It means every believer has the ability to love.
"Philadelphia" is the Greek word for brotherly love and it was frequently used in the epistles in describing the believer’s love, that is, love for one another. Peter  admonished that we love one another with a pure heart and frequently (1Peter 1:22) The lady Tabitha was such a blessing to the brethren that when she died, widows cried because of her display of love towards them.*"Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did. And it came to pass in those days that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber."* (Acts 9:36-37) The disciples then sent for Peter, that he shouldn’t delay (verse 38) and when Peter came, all the widows stood weeping and showing the coats and garments which she (Dorcas) made for them. Peter prayed and Dorcas came back to life. Glory!
Whose life are you impacting? We are to prove our affection for one another practically as you can’t claim to love the master and it doesn’t show on the brethren around you. Apostle Paul admonished us to willingly distribute and communicate with what we have. He says when we do this, we are laying up in store for ourselves a good foundation against the time to come. (1Timothy 6:17-19) When you walk in love, you’ll only see the best in others, because love is the purity of God. Love only sees the good in others, not because love is naive, but because it has the power to change them for good. Walking in love is a high place in God; that’s why you must be determined to walk in love at all times.

*Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for the ability given me to love, in Jesus name – Amen*.
