SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SATURDAY 29TH OCTOBER, 2022
*"An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge shall the just be delivered"* (Proverbs 11:9).
Many people are suffering for nothing; and when you carefully look into their cases, you will discover that the reason for their protracted suffering is ignorance. Many think that they have to suffer because of their background; while many others are weighed down by their past mistakes; they want you to believe that they are where they are in life because of their past mistakes. It makes no difference how your yesterday had been, if only you can see with the binacular of hope, you'll discover that in CHRiSt you have a great future. Some believe that they will never have another great opportunity because their best days are behind them; that's not true! You can still make great things happen - its not yet over. The scripture says, *"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…."* (Hosea 4:6). It means that even a child of God who is ignorant is not spared. Those who live in their past are often frustrated and can’t experience the joy of the future.
Some people are made to believe that self-doubt, self-condemnation, feelings of unworthiness and conviction for individual sins and mistakes are the work of the Holy Spirit; but if you understand the Father's unconditional love and grace, you'll know that such lies are from the devil. The devil’s favorite tool- religion, has made people to believe that the Holy Spirit is the source of negative feelings; that it is the Holy Spirit that shows them that they are unworthy and need to “clean up their acts” if they ever want to receive from the Lord. The truth is, it’s their hearts or more specifically, their consciences that are condemning them, not God. The Holy Spirit is never the source of any of your guilt or condemnation; He is not the One that makes you feel bad when you sin. Your conscience is the part of you that condemns you and if you are feeling unworthy, it’s almost impossible to receive from God. 1John 3:19-21 says, *“And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God”.*
Beloved, if you can reach the point where your conscience is not condemning you, judging you and causing you to feel unworthy to receive, then you will have confidence towards God who has great recompense of reward: *"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward"* (Hebrews 10:35). But the ministry of Holy Spirit is just the opposite of what many Christians think. Jesus calls the Holy Spirit in John 14:16 "another Comforter,” not the afflicter. *“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever”.* “Another” means one of the same caliber, the same kind. Jesus was and still is the comforter; He didn’t condemn people during His earthly ministry. John 3:17 says, *“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved".* The ministry of the Holy Spirit is not one of condemnation; it’s one of comfort.
In John 16:7, Jesus said that it was expedient for you that He goes away and the Comforter comes. The word “expedient” means “to your advantage”. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to our advantage and not to our disadvantage. Seeing through the Father’s heart is vital; as we hear from God, we can see in our hearts what He has planned for us. How you see yourself is hugely affected by your knowledge of God. If how we see ourselves isn't in line with God's word, it can create self- imposed limitations. The devil has no power over us, and God is for us, not against us. If these are true, then the only factor is us. Our thinking can limit what God can do in our lives. Whatever the obstacles in front of you, God has given you the ability to see beyond them. Don’t be led from the outside-in by the thoughts and opinions of the world rather, allow God to lead you from the inside out.
