SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL 
MONDAY 21ST JUNE, 2021 
TOPIC: CALLED TO LIVE BY THE WORD

“ *And now brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified* ” 
(Acts 20:32)

Our theme text emphasizes the importance of the word of God in our daily existence; the believer ought to be established in the word of His grace which has to do with him being rooted firmly in all that Jesus has accomplished for us in His vicarious dead. This is the only way the believer will grow spiritually. Spiritual growth is the development of the believer in Christ; it is not an option though it is determined by the believer’s attitude towards the word of God.
The word is key to our daily living; what we mean here is the finished work of Christ. It was a promissory note in the law, prophecied by prophets and the fulfilment only found in the epistles. When the believer feeds on this, he feeds on Christ. Grace is the foundation, building bricks, colour paintings, window frames and doors of the Christian faith. And interestingly, it is not only for salvation and then efforts and self-help, NO! Peter, in his epistle instructs us thus: “ *But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ….* ” (2Peter 3:18). The word of His grace (the finished work of Christ) is what Paul taught them at Ephesus for 3years.
Apostle Paul also instructed the brethren saying, " *As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him, and established in faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving*” (Colossians 2:6-7), which implies that after salvation, walking or living by the word isn’t what the believer can do on his own, he has to be taught the word for this to happen, hence he must not despise the role of pastors and ministers over his life. You cannot claim growth/living by the word while being unruly, unstable, rebellious and unaccountable anywhere and to nobody!
Pastors and Ministers are to be responsible for feeding (taking oversight of lives) us. These aren’t intenerate teachers, they are found in the local church (Acts 20:28, Ephesians 4: 11-14) And we are to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake (1Thessalonians 5: 13) we are to know AND RECOGNIZE our spiritual leaders if we are to grow up spiritually. Their work is to admonish us and admonishing implies nurturing us.
The word of God is our sure guide in life; it is the reason we encourage conscious study and meditation on the word. Getting yourself acquainted with the word is the way to know the counsel of God and walk in His will. Your life will be an expression of God’s limitless glory as you yield daily to the guidance of His word.
