TOPIC: CULTIVATING THE KINGDOM CULTURE 1
*And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness Charity*
(2Peter 1:7)
In Christianity, we have been given a culture, a way and a manner of doing things; it is the Kingdom's culture to manifest Christ in us, and expressing Him in and through us. The Christian is one who expresses and demonstrates the life, nature, character and righteousness of Christ. This is one of the things you check in appraising yourself spiritually. How much does your actions, attitude, words and character epitomise Christ? Unfortunately, many come into the Kingdom with their own culture and way of doing things. They even try to influence the church with their worldly mindset. Many are not effective in their faith-walk as they ought to, because they have a different mindset from the word of God. The word of God is the kingdom's tool for moulding and shaping our character; culturing our lives to align with God’s eternal plan and purpose.
The word *godliness* means piety or piousness; godliness is the believer’s aura and culture; the quality of life that makes him easily showcase who and whose he is. Godliness is what portrays the culture of the believer to the world, how the believer lives and socializes among people. This is the disposition we put on that make us look distinct in public such that one needs not to guess if we are believers or not. No matter how we’re offended, we’re to give vent to our Christ-like nature and not to allow our flesh gain the upper hand. As a believer, Christ rules your life; you have His nature. Therefore, in all you do, and at all times, refuse to yield to the flesh; rather, respond from your Christ-nature.
Unfortunately some believers make the word of God look irrelevant in their lives by the way they respond to it; to most of them, Bible instructions are outdated; but the word of God transcends everything, including every human culture. Some believers are “hybrid”, though born again, their mentality and way of life is still like those of the world. Beloved, all that God desires is to manifest Christ in you; touching and changing lives through you. When you talk, let Christ be heard. Let His love effuse from your words and actions. Let his wisdom mantle your hearers as you only speak gracious and lifting words; Let Him talk through you. 2 Corinthians 4:11 says, *For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, THAT THE LIFE ALSO OF JESUS MIGHT BE MADE MANIFEST IN OUR MORTAL FLESH.* This is the Kingdom Culture.
