SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL

GOOD MORNING

SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
TUESDAY 10TH NOVEMBER, 2020
TOPIC: INDWELLED BY THE SPIRIT 2

“ *Who hath also sealed us and given the earnest of the spirit in our hearts* ”
(2 Corinthians 1:22)

The believer is indwelled by the spirit of God which was a promise in the Old Testament and only  became a reality at Jesus' resurrection. So the indwelling of the spirit in the believer is a present hour reality. This means that the believer has become one with the Father and he is no longer subject to the limitations and imperfections of the natural man. The indwelling of the spirit is the greatest gift any human can receive because once you have it, you can never perish.
Unfortunately, most believers have been taught wrongly hence they don’t enjoy the full benefits of the indwelled spirit. Some believe that the Holy spirit leaves whenever they do wrong and at such periods they don’t feel his presence. Note that Christianity isn’t a feeling but a knowing – He is always in you. *“This things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…* ” (I John 5:13). So you don’t have to reduce your Christian experience to mere feelings, it’s a function of precise, accurate and comprehensive knowledge of the word of God (Greek: epignosis).
In Matthew 28:20, Jesus speaking to His disciples said, “… *all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and LO, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE WORLD”.* Whenever the phrase “ *heaven and earth* ” is used together in scripture, it implies the union of God and man. It refers to the fact that the tabernacle of God is amongst men. So when Jesus said all authority has been given unto me, He was saying, “ *I have accomplished that promise in Genesis 1:1 now"; implying God’s manifestation in the earth.*
When Jesus said in verse 20, *“I am with you always”* , He was invariably repeating what He had earlier said in verse 18 (heaven and earth) surprisingly after saying this, He vanished out of their sight (Luke 24: 51; Mark 16:19, Acts 1:9-10). If you were there with Him, you would have felt somehow. But the fact is that when He said, “I am with you always”, He was speaking supernaturally.  So, the absolute fact of Christianity is that God is in us not physically.
Jesus bore the name of God  “I AM ” personally in the gospels. He normally said, “I am the light, I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life, I am the bread of life, the name of God” “I Am* ” (Hebrew: ekoemai; yahweh). So presently, God co-exist with humanity in His son. So when He said, I am with you; it means “I exist with you now”. The presence of God is His resurrection. The indwelling of the spirit is an ever abiding reality; He’s with us now in the spirit.
That is why it is wrong for a believer to say, “Lord, go before me”, he never said, “I will go before you,” He said, “I am with you always” and He never put any condition. Interestingly, the ever abiding commitment “is on God and not the believer; He God said, I will be with you forever, so the forever commitment is with God and not man”. He is with us now and we lack words to say that we cannot be found separate. Let this dawn on you – Christ is in you hence you are unbroken, unhindered, unlimited and unmolested.

*PRAYER: Dear Father, thank you for your everlasting presence in me, in Jesus name – Amen.*
