SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL

GOOD MORNING

SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
THURSDAY 12TH NOVEMBER, 2020
TOPIC: INDWELLED BY THE SPIRIT 4

“ *In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you* ”
(John 14:2)

Ephesians 1:13-14 that says, *“... In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy spirit of promise which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession unto the praise of his glory”.* Clearly shows that the spirit of God dwells and lives in you, not temporarily but permanently. The believer is not his temporal but a permanent abode. Thus it is a misnomer for a believer to think that at anytime he or she is without the spirit. The Holy spirit is the earnest deposit or down payment of the purchased possession.
According to our theme text, the word ‘ *house* ’ was translated from the Greek word “ *Oikia* ” which refers to family or household. “ *Mansion* ” was translated from the Greek word “ *mone* ”, which implies a place one occupies to continue his activities – not a place of inactivity. Here, Jesus was talking about an event of His resurrection. He was saying, in my Father’s household, there are many places, He will stay or dwell to continue His activities. The word “ *prepare* ” was translated from the Greek word “ *enthomazo* ” and it means inside the same building, you create a space; it means to make room. So what is the Father’s house? Jesus Himself is the Father’s house, Jesus said, I go to prepare a place in me (in Himself) why would Jesus say all these? Because it was going to happen in His resurrection.
And in verse 16 of John 14 Jesus said, “ *And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever* ”. *‘Another comforter’* is the Greek: ‘ *allos parakletos’;* ‘Abide’ means to exist with you, same word He used in Matthew 28:28 “… *Lo, I am with you always”* . So the ‘ *allos* ’ is the ‘ *mone* ’ He was referring to – where He will abide to continue His activities.
In Matthew 28:20, when He said, “… *lo, I am with you always, even into the end of the world”* . The word ‘ *lo* ’ means ‘ *behold* ’ and it is always  used for perception. Not a casual sight but you must perceive it well. So we are to see Him dwelling in us, in the spirit. “ *Lo"* , means be conscious of my indwelling “ *parakletos* ” means we're united with Him forever, it speaks of the Father in the son and in us, How? In or by His spirit – that’s the meaning of ‘ *Allos parakletos’.*

*PRAYER: Dear Father, I live daily conscious of the indwelling  of the spirit, in Jesus name – Amen.*
