TOPIC: IN CHRIST REALITY 4
*And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.*
(Colossians 2:15)
Matthew 28:11-15 says, *Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came unto the city, and showed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money into the soldiers, saying, say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this came to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.* The above scripture, shows that there were people who attempted to discredit the resurrection of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Out there today, we still have people whose mission is same-to discredit the resurrection of our master and Lord Jesus Christ. According to the referenced text( Matthew 28:11-15) they gave them LARGE MONEY to lie about the resurrection of Jesus, and without His resurrection there wouldn’t be Christianity; it is His resurrection that gave birth to the new life and power over sin. It is what has brought to us a new life of righteousness, peace, dominion and a union with the Father. But one must believe in Jesus’ resurrection to be born again.
Unfortunately, most preachers still discredit the facts and effects of the resurrection in their preaching. Ignorantly, they dwell more preaching about the dispensation before the cross, instead of the dispensation after the cross which produced God’s best. Not that preaching about the dispensation before the cross is wrong, but it must be done in the light of Christ's finished work. Most preachers do not understand the difference between the God's grace and legalism. The fact is that the cross has changed everything; a brand new atmosphere has been enforced on earth after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So what every pastor is sent to preach is to unveil in his teaching, the unimaginable levels of glory, dominion and comfort of the man in Christ.
*Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?*(Luke 24:26). This implies that the fundamental reason for the cross was to make us one with God. In John 17:20-24, when Jesus spoke of being glorified and said, *the glory which you have given me I have given them, that they may be one in us…* referring to the comforter (the Holy Spirit) who would become a reality after His resurrection and abide permanently in the ones that believe. The reality is that *Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ* (Ephesians 2: 5). God *quickened* us TOGETHER with HIM. The word *quickened* was translated from the Greek word *zooipoieo* which implies to bring to life and the term *quickened together* was translated from the Greek word *suzoopoieo*, and the prefix *su* implies what was done in consonance, together.
Our theme text tells us that the coming of Christ was the mystery that silenced Satan (i.e His dead, buried and resurrection). Jesus spoiled satan and his powers and made a public show of the church as a proof of His victory. Jesus' sacrificial death and resurrection ended Satan’s tyrannic rule over humanity and this has brought the believer in Christ into an inseparable union with the Father.
