SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL

APRIL 4
“… God… calleth those things which be not as though they were”
(Romans 4:17)

Theodore Harold White , an American Political journalist and historian once said, “For those men who, sooner or later are lucky enough to break away from the pack, the most intoxicating moment comes when they cease being bodies in other men’s command and find that they control their own time, when they learn their own voice and authority”. It therefore means that if I want to make meaningful progress in life, I must consciously choose my words.
Just as great architects take raw materials to build great edifies and timeless monuments, your words are like raw materials that can form the life you’re meant to live. Words carry great power and scripture is replete with principles that support the power of the tongue.
To me, one of the greatest privileges we have as God’s children is that of reaching out into the realm of God and calling those things which be not as though they were. We should also establish that this practice can work against us if we are calling for things that are not God’s will but the enemy’s. That is why I am always very uncomfortable sitting around those who seem to be addicted to calling for disaster.
For example, a person hears some rumour that the company he works for is going to lay off some employees, so he says, “I’ll  probably lost my job”. That’s the story of my life, every time things starts getting well, a disaster must happen. By their fear they’re speaking words that will eventually shape their lives negatively in the future.
Peter tells us we belong to “a royal priesthood” (I Peter 2:9). The word royal speaks of our kingly attributes as believers. A king does not beg or cry for anything, he declares something and that thing is established. A king has the legal power to decree, which is an old English word for “legislate”. He institutes, he confirms, he settles, he summons, he authorizes-that’s what kings does.
Refuse to allow situations overwhelm you; be a word talker. When you have issues to deal with, use words to effect a change; keep talking the word until you prevail against every adversity! Use the word against evil intentions against your life. The word of faith in your mouth is your weapon of victory against the enemy.

We believe that knowing him is the source of true peace and fulfillment in life we encourage you to pray thus: Jesus, I believe you died for me and rose from the dead I hereby confess you as my lord and savior. I receive the life of God into my spirit and now am born again.
