SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL

APRIL 6.
“By now it was noon. The whole earth became dark, the darkness lasting three hours – a total blackout. The temple curtain split right down the middle. Jesus called loudly, “Father, I place my life in your hand! Then he breathed his last” (Luke 23:44-46 MSG
It is a proven fact that the darkness that took place while Jesus hung on the cross wasn’t a natural but a supernatural occurrence. It is a known fact that the darkness lasted for three hours but the longest duration of a full solar eclipse is approximately 7.5 minutes. What took place that day was beyond science-it was a supernatural occurrence with huge implications. When Jesus hung there on the cross, and there was darkness-total blackout in the entire world, figuratively this speaks of a separation or a break in communication and that was why Jesus cried with a loud voice saying, “Eli, Eli lama sabathani?”that is to say, “my God, my God why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:4-6). This was the climax of the separation between God and man occasioned by Adam’s transgression in the garden. Today, the relationship between God and man has been restored and the communication link reactivated; the believer is of the same stock with God. He is of the same class with God, sharing the same ability and privilege with Christ. They’re bearers of the light of God’s kingdom and that’s why even when others are faced with confusing moment, they’re assured of direction. That’s why Jesus emphatically said, “… I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). To follow Him is to believe His Gospel and act accordingly. When you believe and do the word of God, darkness departs from your life and you’ll no longer live in confusion. Apostle John affirmed this when by revelation he said, “Again a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth” (1 John 2:8). It doesn’t matter how dark things have been with you, maybe in your finances, family, job or health, the solution is in the Gospel which is referred to as “the true light”. Keeping your gaze on Jesus, the eternal word, the light of life is the solution to every problem. He’s the light in whom there’s no darkness. You’ll never be in doubt or confusion as you keep your gaze on Him.
