TOPIC: CELEBRATING THE NEW LIFE IN YOU 8
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them and be established in THE PRESENT TRUTH” (2 Peter 1:3, 12)
The more you study the word of God, the more convinced you’ll become that Christianity is not a religion but it is life in the supernatural. It is life in Christ, the transcendent life; life beyond failure and defeat. So when you see a believer still living in defeat and failures, that believer lacks knowledge of the truth about his unquestionable identity in Christ as contained in the word of God.
As a child of God, you should know that God’s thoughts are communicated through words and those words are committed to writing; the written word called the Bible. It therefore means that my attitude to the written word is my attitude to God.
Apostle Paul writing to his son Timothy rightly said, “And from a child thou hast know the holy scriptures” (2 Timothy 3:15). It means Timothy must have been exposed to a written document in which he diligently studied. The word “known” as is being used in the above verse of the scripture is “eido” in Greek. It means to comprehend; to come to awareness of the full perception of. By implication, the believer must give himself to the studying of the word to be able to attain this level of awareness.
The outcome will be that his eyes of understanding will be enlightened in the knowledge of Christ leaving him with an impeccable assurance about who he is in Christ; what he has in Christ; and what Christ can achieve through him (Philippians 1:9-10; Ephesians 1:15-19; Colossians 1:9-10).
Since you’re now born again, you’re one spirit with the Lord, you’ve come into union with God that allows you to partake in all that’s available in Christ. Because you’re in union with Deity, it puts you at the same level with Him thereby making failure or defeat an impossible scenario in your life.
Our today’s theme verse affirms the fact that the new creation is blessed already and there’s nothing lacking in him. This is the present truth Apostle Paul wants believers to be established in. As a believer, you’ve been given the earnest of the spirit, it is dwelling in you now. So, all of the miracles, signs and wonders you read about in Acts of the Apostles, you can also perform them.
No wonder Paul reminded us saying, “… all things are yours…” (1 Corinthians 3:21). There’s no level you cannot get to in life; there’s nothing you cannot achieve. What made the Apostles to stand out in their time was the kind of life they possessed and their consciousness to the existence of that life in them.
