SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
25th Dec. 2018.
(Luke 2:20)
Today we celebrate the greatest event in history. The messiah was born thousands of years ago to bring us freedom and then reconcile us to the Father. God decided to become man to save man (1 Timothy 3:16; 2Corinthians 5:19). For ages, the Jews waited for this awesome event but when it finally occurred, the religious group, the Pharisees and Sadducees were not informed. God by-passed them for the humble shepherd and the wise men.
The mission of Jesus was to take care of sin; to save from sin. “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).Actually, the name Jesus in Hebrew is “YESHUA” and it means ”SAVIOUR”. So His name is the affirmation of His mission.
Jesus became our spiritual “scapegoat” who took our place and gave us His place. We were to die for our sins but He made the exchange and died in our place. The word “Scapegoat” can readily ring a ball in my mind. During my days in secondary school, we used to sneak into the school Orchard to get fruits and one of such days one of us was caught in the act while the rest of us escaped. And the student apprehended by the school authority becomes the “scapegoat”– taking on the punishment that was meant for all of us. Once the “scapegoat” is punished, others are exempted from being punished for the same offense. Similarly, Jesus became our spiritual “scapegoat” who bear the sins of the world (John 1:29).
Leviticus 16:8-10 paints a picture of the “scapegoat” were the priest yearly will select a goat to serve as the scapegoat “- to carry the sins of the Israelites into the wilderness, it served as the atoning sacrifice for the people before God. As you celebrate Jesus’ birth today you should be encouraged that He came as our eternal spiritual “scapegoat”, hence we have better reason to celebrate and we also have a better reason to expect God’s goodness and prosperity regardless of circumstances. Remember you should be born again to enjoy the benefits of today’s celebration.

PRAYER: Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of your son. I walk in the light of the liberty Christ has obtained for me. I celebrate today with greater understanding of who I am in Him, in Jesus name – Amen.

WE PASSIONATELY CARE ABOUT YOU
We believe there is a void in every person that only a relationship with God can fill. We’re not referring to finding religion or joining a particular church we are referring to having a relationship with your heavenly father through his son Jesus Christ. We believe that knowing him is the source of true peace and fulfillment in life we encourage you to pray thus: Jesus, I believe you died for me and rose from the dead I hereby confess you as my lord and savior. I receive the life of God into my spirit and now am born again.
Thank you lord Jesus for the new life I have now in you. In Jesus name – amen.
