What makes the new creation unique is the fact that we have the same life with Him (Christ); we’re in His class of being; we’re the ones called into oneness with Him; we’re the only ones who are in fellowship with Him in spirit and in truth. This is a privilege even angels don’t have. The New Living Translation of James 1:18 gives us a better description of the above claim: “He chose to give birth to us by giving us His true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possessions”.
Every Christians is a fellow-citizen of heaven and a member of God’s household (Ephesians 2:19) and this comes with huge responsibility. We’re bearers of His righteousness; we’re light in a dark world. We must take the light of the Gospel to men and women in our world. (Matthew 24:14). The gospel is the family message (God’s family) to the dying world and every member of the family is a custodian of this message. Jesus was driven by the passion to get mankind liberated, we ought to be driven by same passion. That’s what Jesus meant in our theme verse because He wasn’t only talking to His disciples but to every member of family.
It is very easy to know a committed member of God’s family by His passion for evangelism. We’ve been entrusted with the Gospel, hence we can’t afford to be weak or lukewarm; we’re not to be quiet but must maintain the glow and passion just like the Apostle Paul (Romans 1:16-18; 2 Corinthians 11:23-27; 1 Corinthians 4:16-19; Acts 20:17-32).
Beyond going out yourself to win souls, you’re also expected to sponsor the Gospel through your giving. Without your giving, evangelism won’t be effective because money is the vehicle that drives the operation of ministry. Many will not hear the Gospel and they will die and go to hell if you keep back your money.
You must celebrate the privilege provided you as a member of God family to preach the Gospel remembering that there are rewards awaiting every committed and faithful family members.
