SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
27th Dec. 2018.
(Matthew 5:20)
The above statement was made by the master himself pointing out to everyone who cares to listen that there’s the righteousness that qualifies a man for heaven. But unfortunately, it is a statement that has actually raised several questions in the body of Christ – the church as to what Jesus meant. Remember the scribes and the Pharisees were masters of the law which Moses gave to their Fathers in the wilderness. They were folks who rejected, Jesus Christ as the messiah. The scriptures says, “For the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).
The righteousness that exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees is what Jesus came to give; it is not man made but God made as the scripture says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees was all about man’s outward display which makes a man only trust on what he can do which the best it produces is described to be “as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). God is not at all impressed by man’s outward display but that of faith in what Jesus accomplished of the Cross for us. That is the reason the Apostle Paul said, “… that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith”(Philippians 3:9).
God doesn’t want us to trust in our own righteousness because it will not answer for us before Him. Man isn’t justified by his works before God, he is justified by trusting in God’s righteousness. And until you receive all that Jesus accomplished for us in His sacrificial work, you’ll continue to struggle as a believer.
Even Abraham was justified by his faith in God (Romans 4:2-3). If you’re born again, when God looks at you, He sees Jesus and not you because you’re in Him and He’s in you. Your righteousness is based on what Jesus has done and not on what you have done or can do.
REFERENCE: Romans 10:1-4
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank you for the unquestionable nature of righteousness I have now. I do not try to impress you or gain your approval because I know who I am, in Jesus name – Amen.

WE PASSIONATELY CARE ABOUT YOU
We believe there is a void in every person that only a relationship with God can fill. We’re not referring to finding religion or joining a particular church we are referring to having a relationship with your heavenly father through his son Jesus Christ. We believe that knowing him is the source of true peace and fulfillment in life we encourage you to pray thus: Jesus, I believe you died for me and rose from the dead I hereby confess you as my lord and savior. I receive the life of God into my spirit and now am born again.
Thank you lord Jesus for the new life I have now in you. In Jesus name – amen.
