“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding”
(Job 32:8)
Sidney Poitier, a Bahamian-American, actor, film director, author, and diplomat. In 1964, became the first Bahamian and first black actor to win an academy award for the best actor andthe Golden Globe award for best actor for his role in Lillies of the Field. After his first audition, the casting director told him, “Why don’t you stop wasting people’s time and go out and become a dish washer or something?” But  according to Sidney Poitier, it was at that moment he decided to devote his life to acting. He wasn’t going to let someone else decide his life path. And driven by this resolve, he became a huge success in life.
From God’s perspective, you’re lavishly blessed and the word of God says that all things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21). But too many people are like wheelbarrows, trailers or canoes. They desire to be pushed, pulled or paddled. You’re either moving other people to decisions or they’re moving you. A lot of people are dreaming and wishing for success but unfortunately for them, success is not for wishers but for willers.
There’re no free lands, God gives you lands full of giants and its your place to fight and possess what belongs to you; God gives, but it is your responsibility to take what belongs to you. In Joshua 18:2-1-3, the Bible says, “And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes which had not yet received their inheritance. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go and possess the Land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you”. The land was theirs, but they still needed to be pushed to lay hold on what rightly belonged to them.
People may have told you that you will not be successful in that which you have chosen to pursue. You don’t have to listen to those negative voices. Every circumstance in life can be changed for the best if you can align your imagination with God’s word. Make up your mind to convert your imagination into intentions and your intentions into actions. This will surely bring forth a change.
You must make up your mind to be decisive because decisiveness is very essential for successful life. Don’t deny yourself commitment because every accomplishment, great and small, starts with a decision. Don’t just show interest in success, be committed to it.
