SPRINGBOARD DAILY DEVOTIONAL

“You must submit (and) endure (correction) for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his Father does not (thus) train (and) correct (and) discipline?”
(Hebrews 12:7 AMP)
2 Timothy 2:3-5 is very instructive as it concerns the believer and discipline. It says; “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warethentangleth himself with the affirms of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries; yet is he nor crowned, except he strives lawfully .” It means that when you became born again, you were enrolled as a soldier in God’s army.
And being a part of God’s army places huge demand on you, when you understand this, you’ll realize that you are called to a life of spiritual discipline. The word of God is supposed to be your mirror for making continuous adjustments in your life. The future you desire as a person wouldn’t be possible until you decide to adjust in order to fit into it. Learning to accept and receive discipline is a sign of spiritual maturity and it is crucial and immensely beneficial to you at different levels.
You cannot be doing things anyhow and expect to get to the very top in your calling. There’s what is called “the rules of engagement”and that is what Paul was pointing Timothy to when he said “And if a man also strives for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strives lawfully (2 Timothy 2:5).”You must really to ready to play by the stipulated rules to attain significant success and this entails discipline.
Achan’s indiscipline act of keeping back some spoils of war made Joshua to lost his first battle of Ai. It means one person’s act of indiscipline can create a corporate defeat. (Joshua 7:1-26). Have you ever seen people who never liked being corrected? People like that always end up in trouble (Proverbs 4:13; 22:3).
You must learn to discipline your physical body (I Corinthians 9:27). When it is time to pray, you get up and pray; when it is time to study the word or to go to church, you do it as demanded. When you embrace a life of discipline, it will put you on the path of consistent progress.
